History

Mercy Federal Credit Union was chartered on April 12, 1976 with fourteen employees of St. Joseph Hospital being the charter members. They elected a board of directors, a supervisory committee and a credit committee and began accepting members.

Sister M. Cornile, RSM from the hospital assisted. Also, present were Mr. Berkeley Holmes, Representing the National Credit Union Administration, Mr. Thomas Nelson, representing the Georgia Credit Union League and Mr. James Caldwell representing the Credit Union National Association, each of whom assisted with obtaining the charter.

Anyone who works for St Joseph’s/Candler Hospital system is eligible to open a Mercy Federal Credit Union account.

We help our members improve their financial health and protect what’s important to them. As a member, our credit union earnings are paid back to you in the form of low rates, dividends, lower fees and new products & services. It pays to be a member.
